Ballet Review / Hansel and Gretel

Today I went to the Hansel and Gretel  Ballet.
It was really fun but if I were to rate it I give it
10/10. I really liked the special effects and the dance. The
costumes and the setup was impressive. You can tell they
took a lot of time planning the whole thing. 

I also really liked the lighting and backdrops.
The backdrops were spirals and when the worst

moments came they made them dark. When the
happy moments came they would make them pink
or white. They also had scary backdrops like forests or
eyes. The night time moon and stars had dead trees. 

There was two things I didn't like, were the schools around me
and the chairs. The chairs were really annoying because they were
itchy and the girls kept on talking. 

I really like the performance and I hope that next time it will be
better.

The difference between the YouTube
clip and the performance was that in ballet the
mother was the biological mum in the clip the
mother was a step parent.  The step mother was mean. The
ballet had additional characters compared to the original story. 

They also had added an actor called the Boogie Man
, the king and queen of the forest and  Mr.Sand man.
They all helped their parents find hansel and gretel.
Except for the Boogie Man he stole Hansel’s toy bunny rabbit .
He left it in the woods. When the parents found it they got really
sad and they thought that Hansel and Gretel had been kidnapped
or were dead in the woods. They did not give up and at the end

they found them. The best part of the show was that I thought
it looked  real. I liked it when the witch made smoke. We
could not see anything within the audience. 

There was another actress under the table who
was the bad witch. The good witch and the bad
witch switched places to make it look like they quickly
switched personalities. At first I thought that it was real but then
I realised it was magic. They spent a lot of time with all the setup. I hope to go to the ballet again as I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Turfulls Recount

Turfull making

It was a nice day as we were going to

make Truffles. I was excited but I did

not know what they were. It was fun learning something

new. It turned out they were little balls which

had a lot of flavour. My group’s flavour

was cranberry. Miss Paton my Teacher gave us

a big bowl.

First we had minced the cranberries with the food processor

.  We added cocount and condensed milk to the

cranberries. We rolled them into little balls which

we would refrigerate. Our hands were so sticky

and it kind of looked like vomit. I knew they would

taste good. It was such a great lesson until nearly

all the girls used the sink in the toilets. We did not realise

that the coconut from our hands would block the sink. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, because it was a build up.  A couple days of days later we got to cover our truffles in melted chocolate. I am looking forward to sharing my truffles

with my mum and my little brother.

Dance showcase

Dance Showcase.. 

The day had come the day where we had to show our cultural dance.

I was in the Mollywood group and my teacher was Miss
Jeslyn and Miss Teresa for my dance. Also some mothers
came for support.

I got changed in my black clothes and Esha’s mother Tara did
my makeup. My Teacher Miss Jeslyn did my hair. I was so excited.
I had practiced every lunch and morning tea time in the school library.
Miss Jeslin and Miss Teressa put me on a lovely Bollywood dress.
I really did not want to  ruin my look so I sat down. My friend Athena
who is in my class with Miss Paton sat next to me. We took some
photos for memories. We talked and my other friend Rosina joined
who is in another class joined us. The little kids looked absolutely
adorable.

I told my friend Rosina that I had never danced with
a lot of
people looking at me and turned out she
never did as well. At least we shared the same
feelings. I thought oh no I needed to face my
fears. The Teachers took a quick picture before we went.

First, we needed to wait on the stairs
. I was relieved, I thought
to myself. Then I saw  my mother
coming and she said “Hi”.
I don't really remember what else she said. She
said that her and my brother were going to wait in the hall .
After awhile it was officially time to go and show our dance. We
waited outside for the group before us to finish their dance.

Then the teacher told us to come in. My heart was going really
fast. I really wanted to tell my Mother and Miss Jeslin I did not
want to do it. I wanted to feel proud of myself and make my
mother and teacher proud. When the music started,

I was scared that people would laugh at me. I tried to
smile as much as possible. I think the hardest part was
looking at the people looking at me. I tried to also look at
them and

smile but after awhile I got used to it. I really enjoyed
the dance and who knew facing your fears was so fun. 

My Chocolate Recount

It was a joyful day as Miss Paton had told us we were going to make chocolates. I was really excited as I had never made chocolates before. The first thing we did was get into groups of four. My group was Stella, Meron, Galila, and me. Miss Paton had given each group a  pot and a plate. She was also boiling water so that we could have a double boiler. I didn't know why but she put some

chocolate buttons on the plate and poured the boiling water in the pot. Then she told us to mix the chocolates and make them melt. The smell of the chocolates was so tempting we all wanted to eat them. Then one of my group saw that some of the melted chocolate was dripping on the table and they all put their fingers on it. I wanted to taste

it but it was kind of gross. Then we saw that the chocolate

had melted and was ready to go so we all had a turn at putting the melted chocolate in the moulds. We all thought the melted chocolate looked like Nutella.

Planet Mercury

Dear Mum and Aaron,

I am having the hottest time on Planet Mercury and I really want
water! I can see the sun so close to me. It feels like am standing on

hard rock. I see 763 craters on Mercury. I am not alone, as I am with
my friend Athena. I am trying not to jump much because then I
will sweat even more. I heard Mercury is 4.503 billion years old. It
looks like it is 3032 miles long. It is almost as big as the USA. I feel
like it is spinning slowly. I can't wait to get home and see you.

My time at the Movies

It was a very rainy day I asked my Mum if we could go to
the mall. I knew she would say no but she said yes. I was really surprised
when we got there. I was going to go in the jeans store but I saw my
mum was going in a different direction. My mother said we are not
shopping, we are going to the movies. I was really mad but I said
fine. We went in and my mother said “Pick a movie”. 

I said “Toy Story 4”. My Mum was happy because she loves Toy Story.
We went in I was so scared that I might step on somebody's belongings. We sat
down and we watched some advertisements. It was boring but once the movie started
I was excited. 

The story was about a girl named Bonnie and she was starting kindergarten. She was
really nervous to go to school and she cried when her mother was talking to her.  The
other toys were watching Bonnie cry Woody quickly got into Bonnie's school bag.
Bonnie went to school. As she walked in her, teacher was welcomed her. They told her
to hang her bag up. When she hung up her bag she was going to do art. A boy came
and stole all of the pencils and put them in the rubbish bin. Woody the cowboy was
watching and quickly ran to get the pencils and more art stuff from the rubbish bin.
Bonnie saw her art supplies put back on the table. She made something for art. She
got a plastic fork and made the fork have arms and legs. She got googly eyes and
glued them to make a face. She named her art Forkie. She brought it home. When
Woody got out of Bonnie's school bag all of the other toys were mad at him because
they thought that Bonnie could take care of herself at school. Woody showed the toys
Forkie. They thought that Forkie was an alien. Woody said that he was not going
anywhere. As Woody turned around he saw that Forkie loved rubbish.

My brother Aaron kept on coughing. I was so embarrassed. One hour
and 40 minutes later we went outside. It felt like we have in there all
day. because it was already dark. My mother said we have only been
in there for 1 hour and 40 minutes. I was shocked because we had only went to
the movies at 3 o’clock and it was already night time. I thought something was
wrong with earth. My mum laughed and she said “No when it's winter the sun goes
down earlier”. I felt so embarrassed. Then my mum forgot where she parked the car. I
did not want to laugh because she is my mother. It took 15 minutes or so  to find where
she parked the car. I was so bored that I almost forgot that we went to the movies. When
we found our car I was so tired because the mall was so big.

My Information Report - on my Mother

Vanessa Aguilar is my mother. She is an unsung hero to me
because she donates money to the poor people in other
countries. She is always happy and can get mad sometimes
but it's understandable. My mother also has a lot of talent.
She is from Chile. She always thinks about people before she
acts. My mother is easy going and brave. She is the main
person in my life. When Vanessa was growing up in Santiago
in Chile she was the smallest child in her family. My mother has
one sister named Kathy and two brothers named Alex and Dan.

Alex is the oldest and Dan is slightly younger than Alex. When
my mother was young, she was a cook at a fancy restaurant.
This was her job when she was a teenager. She would often
cycle to the restaurant where she worked. My mother has had
a lot of personal success.

She has been around the world with me. She is like the glue
that sticks my family together. I think she is a true unsung hero
because she is loving even when she is stressed out.

Home language

My home language  my mum was helping me with some apps so then I can get some spelling  right in spanish because I only know a little bit of  spelling also  this was my homework 

My Blogger Profile

Hola, I am Juliana and I am 9 years old.  I have a little brother named Aaron. My favourite animal are guinea pigs because I have had one since I was little. I love ice hockey. I go to Christ The King School and my teacher is Miss Paton. I am in Room 1. I have been in the school for 2 years and am very good at reading. I read a lot at home and sometimes at school.

This year my goal is to read words much faster  and with understanding. I would like to learn more in topic this year.

This year I am looking forward to using my Chromebook more in class and getting to know my friends better. My friends are Rhianne, Betty, Deborah, Athena and Elina. I am looking forward to going to a wedding this week for my Mum’s friend.
