Why does Popping Candy Pop?

A few weeks ago we did an experiment that looked at the reaction Popping Candy had in these liquids. The liquids we tested were: Milk, Vinegar, Milk, Water, Coca Cola and Cooking Oil. The Popping Candy reacted the most in Coca Cola and Vinegar.
